My Rating System

Because I am a rational person (sorry, INTJ, can't help it), I've been working on a 'rational' rating system. I'm still working on this, so subject to change for now...

Plus points - general
Voice - max 3 *** Characters (she, he, development) - max 3 *** Romance (believability, development) - max 2 *** Plot (bad, good, ingenious) - max 2
Plus points - things I value (max 1 each)
Witty conversations *** Special setting *** Humor *** Sensuality in keeping with book *** Thrill-factor
Minus points (unlimited max)
Errors re continuity, period, geography etc *** Gaping plot holes or loose ends *** Purple prose or sex dominates plot *** Characters - irritating, TSTL, out of character behavior etc *** Irritating plot cliche *** Tell instead of show *** Irritating amount of typos

Adding up
Keepers
13-15 = A+ = 10/10 = 5 stars *** 12 = A = 9,5/10 = 5 stars *** 11 = A- = 9)10 = 4,5 stars
Rereadable
10 = B+ = 8,5/10 = 4,5 stars *** 9 = B = 8/10 = 4 stars *** 8 = B- = 7,5/10 = 3,5 stars
Okay
7 = C+ = 7/10 = 3 stars *** 6 = C = 6,5/10 = 3 stars *** 5 = C- = 6/10 = 3 stars
Wouldn't recommend
4 = D+ = 5,5/10 = 2 stars *** 3 = D =5/10 = 2 stars *** 2 = D- = 4,5/10 = 2 stars
Terrible
0-1 = F = 4/10 = 1 star
DNF

Disclosure

In accordance with the FTC Guidelines for blogging and endorsements, I state that I usually purchase my own books but occasionally may be provided with a book by the publisher or the author for free.

I use the back cover blurb for the 'In short' in my review.
